Nigeria Actors - Artistes Fusion

Have you noticed in recent times, especially in the last 4 years, the movement of some Nollywood stars into the Nigerian music industry?

Perhaps, the ban placed on some members of Nollywood some few years ago might have been responsible for this. Notice I used the word "Might".

Sometimes pressure brings out the best in you and even makes you do or achieve what you never thought you could do. This could be the case with some of these actors and actresses turned musicians.

While the ban was an avenue for some others to explore their talent of music which had seemingly looked locked up hither to, for others like kate Henshaw, and Stella Damasus who were already into music before Nollywood, they just continued in their old act.

Well, the good thing about it is that it brought out the other side of these actors and actresses. Who would have thought that the likes of Patience Ozonkwo popularly known as "Mama G", Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Comedy Maestro Nkem Owoh, Genevieve Nnaji, Segun Arinze, Desmond Elliot and even Ramsey Noah popularly referred to as "Fine Boy" could sing the way they did.

However you want to look at it I would say it wasn't a bad first outing for those of them that were first timers in the music industry.

This is also the case in the music industry, as some Artistes in times past and even presently have at one point or the other featured in movies .Artistes like Onyeka Owenu who is an epitome of both the old and new generation, Tu face Idibia, Muma G, Sound Sultan, Pasuma, Obesere, Baba D, amongst others are all further proofs of the fact that there's a strong bond between Music, Movie, and the people who play these roles either as Artistes or Actors.

The Actor - Artiste fusion is not just a Nigerian thing, it is Universal. American Beyonce as a Singer and Actress, Ice Cube as a Rap Artiste and Actor, Jennifer Lopez, the list is endless. Look all around you, irrespective of your environment, you will find them.

So Nigerians lets encourage our own and not pull them down. Give them a chance.

History Of Rock Music

Rock music, where did it all begin? Believe it or not a black man who played black music, originally founded rock music in the mid 50s, this man was Chuck Berry. Rock music became popular almost over night, and was accepted with open arms by the younger generations. This was largely due to younger generations who were excited by the thought of having music that expressed their rebellious streak and their desires to promote anti-conformism.

This style of music is a far cry from the modern rock music of today that has evolved over the decades and branched out into a multitude of different genres and sub-genres to create music that is more a way of life than entertainment. However, the still prominent fact that rock music is a form of self-expression and non-conformist desire still remains strong even after all this time.

Rock music grew stronger and stronger with idols such as Elvis Presley, around this time many of the black rock and roll artists left the rock music scene and in their place were a host of other white rockers with a style and look all of their own.

After Elvis Presley’s famous entrance, other well known rock idols and bands started popping up from everywhere, but something was lost along the way, rockers started losing sight the whole reason that rock and roll had become popular in the first place, which was non conformist and rebellious attitudes.

During this time rock music, took a huge nosedive with the younger generations, who were uninterested in a mixture of country music, folk songs, and rock music. This was in the late fifties and musicians such as Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers were foremost rockers in the rock music scene.

Just as things were looking bleak, Bob Dylan entered the scene during the Vietnam War and held the heart and attention of many youth of the era with his songs of the Vietnam War and civil rights. Around this time, the Beach Boys changed the rock music scene with their new style of rock music.

California had its own unique spin on rock and roll, which contained very sophisticated and vocal harmonies; this style of rock music was a change from the empathetic shouting that had first been introduced by the black musicians in the mid 50s.

In the early sixties, Britain took on a whole new aspect of rock music and created a rage with bands such as the Rolling Stones and the Animals. During this era, the Yard birds also debuted and although they were in the shadows of the Rolling Stones, they were in fact the beginnings of something great, the musicians from this band were later on to revolutionize rock music all over again.

Nevertheless, it was the birth of the Beatles that created a worldwide mania and the beginning of rock music as a business was really born. Following the Beatles, the second generation of rockers were the Kinks and the Who, the Who had changed rock music forever with their mechanically amplified guitars and songs dedicated to the angry frustrated youth of the 60s

The seventies saw the death of Jimmy Hendrix, and the Doors Jim Morrison, and rock music cooled down. New bands, such as Nirvana and the Eagles, began a more peaceful revival of country music mixed with soft rock. The seventies were characterized by a quieter time in rock music.

The nineties saw the age of electronic music, and this new rage spread all over the world, and saw an era of many different genres of rock music, blended music and dance music mixed together. The 90s were also the decade of heavy metal and bands such as Guns and Roses and Metallica. This style of music split into a myriad of other sub-genres such as the funk-metal of Red-Hot-Chilli-Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and Faith No More.

It is hard to believe that today’s rock music began with a single black man, singing a hybrid type of the blues, and flourished over the last five decades to become not only a choice, but also a way of life.

Rock music has evolved to become an array of different styles and sub categories, which provide enjoyment for a multitude of different tastes in music. What the future holds for rock music may not be known, although it is safe to say the rock music will still be around for the next five decades.

Film Acting: A Summary On Film Acting

In this film acting review I would like to touch more on the foundation of acting in film and what is expected out of a actor to succeed in this industry.

Film Acting is the process of pretending, unselfconsciously, in front of a camera. Film acting is oceans apart from acting for the stage. When first start acting it is all about urgency and immediacy in which certain actors express their selfhood and push the limits of expressivity and, most importantly, how actors create a living, breathing character from the words on the page of a script. Film acting is surprisingly difficult, fresh, new and different.

Acting as we know it, did not begin until the 16th century in Italy when actors worked together to perform a type of story. Acting is an art form, and any art form is served by the variety of perspectives, opinions, and cultures of its participants. Film acting develops the whole person: intellectually, emotionally, physically. Acting for film requires a talented performance, but it has the "luxury" of reshooting scenes until they are, in the eye of the director, ideal.

Actors need to practice their craft to improve and to grow as artists once the beginning stages of how to get into acting is learned. Actors do a disservice to themselves as artists when they judge the quality of the material as a litmus test for whether they will employ technique. Actors will work on roles ranging from Day Player to Guest Star to Series
Regular. Actors are normally at the core of narrative film, and they bear one of the primary responsibilities of telling the film's story.

Acting on the stage and for the camera are the same, the differences between stage and film acting is proportions. Film acting is kind of a paradoxical experience. The Star reminds us that film acting isn’t exactly the same as Theatre acting, since an elusive charisma puts the performance across. Thinking of cinema as a performance-based art, for example, doesn’t commit you to saying that film acting is the same as theatrical acting. Since film acting is the main resource we have for tracking our famous actors, the ones we have in common to talk about; we have to have a way of viewing that
allows us to get a real sense of what’s taking place on the screen. This is the way film acting is supposed to work.

To be continued...

Are you getting no where with acting, are you serious about film acting then go now to my blog, http://www.filmactingreview.com and get acting. Or would you rather learn from DVD's now on how to get into acting?

Fashion - The Social Phenomena

Fashions are social phenomena common to many fields of human activity and thinking. Fashion houses and their associated fashion designers, as well as high-status consumers (including celebrities), appear to have some role in determining the rates and directions of fashion change. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Fashion is a field dominated by women and primarily meant to serve women.
Fashion
Men's fashions largely derived from military models, and changes in a European male silhouette are galvanized in theatres of European war, where gentleman officers had opportunities to make notes of foreign styles: an example is the "Steinkirk" cravat or necktie. The pace of change picked up in the 1780s with the increased publication of French engravings that showed the latest Paris styles; though there had been distribution of dressed dolls from France as patterns since the sixteenth century, and Abraham Bosse had produced engravings of fashion from the 1620s.
Although tailors and dressmakers were no doubt responsible for many innovations before, and the textile industry certainly led many trends, the History of fashion design is normally taken to date from 1858, when the English-born Charles Frederick Worth opened the first true haute couture house in Paris. Since then the professional designer has become a progressively more dominant figure, despite the origins of many fashions in street fashion.
A stylist is either a person who co-ordinates the clothes, jewelry, and accessories used in fashion photographs and catwalk shows or a kind of designer whose designs are based on existing things, trends, and designers collections. A buyer is responsible for ordering stocks of clothes for shops, particularly the larger chain stores. An illustrator draws and paints clothes for commercial use. Talented illustrators—among them Paul Iribe, George Lepape and George Barbier—drew exquisite fashion plates for these publications, which covered the most recent developments in fashion and beauty. A model models clothes at fashion shows or for photographs. A photographer photographs the clothes on fashion models for use in magazines, newspapers, or adverts.
Season
Fashion design differs from costume design due to its core product having a built in obsolescence usually of one to two seasons. A season is defined as either autumn/winter or spring/summer. Ready-to-wear collections are usually presented by fashion houses each season during a period known as Fashion Week. They often wait around a season to make sure a style is going to catch on before producing their own versions of the original look. To do this, they look at what the fashion directions have been in previous seasons, keep an eye on what others in the fashion business are doing, and read fashion forecasting magazines. They also rely on knowledge of their own customers to see which styles succeeded and which were less popular in past seasons.
Fashions may vary significantly within a society according to age, social class, generation, occupation and geography as well as over time.
